10 Top Women’s Spring Fashion Essentials — THE DRESSES

I’ve covered some of the men’s spring fashion essentials. The Ralph Lauren Style Guide‘s 10 top Spring fashion essentials for women has the same great fashion suggestions, with lots of versatility. We’ll give you the Frugalista finds to help your gift recipient step out in style this Spring. Let’s start with the dresses. And, remember, you can always gift yourself. 😉

1st Spring Essential Dress – THE SHIRT DRESS

As the Style Guide mentions, the shirt dress is a wardrobe staple. It’s also versatile. Use accessories to change the look. Since the shirt dress is such a staple with so many variations, I’ll showcase several. Ralph has many fabulous dresses, just not Frugalista fabulous. Do, however, go check out a selected assemblage of all of his spring essentials to drool and for ideas. You might also stumble upon a sale. Check these out in the meantime. As with the previously highlighted essentials, the dresses are versatile, too. Versatile in the available styles in each category. Versatile in how she (or you!) change up the look each time she wears the dress.

The Gap sells a chambray shirt dress for $70. It features 3/4 sleeves. Push them up or leave down. Be demure or daring with the buttons. Slip a cami underneath. The side zip is universally flattering. She will need good legs for this one!

Note Nordstom’s very similar chambray dress for $98. Your gift, your call.

Pintucked Linen Shirt Dress — Old Navy

Old Navy’s shirt dress presents a different slant. Not only because of the fabric, but the cap sleeves. It sells for $35. The Pintucked Linen Shirt Dress gives her the opportunity to be daring with buttons from the top to bottom. This is a staple with a classic fit. Good legs still a requisite though.

ASOS offers an array of shirt dress styles from conservative to sexy to flirty/whimsy. Starting at $24 (sale).

3rd Spring Essential Dress – THE TANK

    Silence & Noise Tank Dress

The final dress on Lauren’s Spring essential list — the tank. Their highlighted version is stunning, but not quite in a Frugalista budget. The tank dress has lots of versatility. It works on many body types, like the Silence & Noise Layered Tank Dress from Urban Outfitters. This beautifully flowing, asymmetrical dress will become a staple for many occasions. Macy’s Bar III Front Row’s sleeveless tank dress features color blocking. Flattering to many figures. Slit one side knitted black long maxi tank dress

Help her get her sexy back with a style essential tank like’s maxi tank dress with side slit below. It’s only $15, so might not be premiere quality. Although, I’ve found some great values at these type stores. Values that last longer than some of the pricier clothing items. Still, this dress makes a great petite gift. Or, give your gift some pow. Pair it with a kicking pair of the shoes from the list. Frugalista style, of course.
One, or both, of the Spring essential shoes featured in the Style Guide complements all of these dresses. The great selections available in shirt, floral and tank dresses make it easy to keep your gift recipients in style. The wide range of prices points ensure great gift presentations. You might consider coordinating the gift giving for your recipient with other friends or family. How cool to have a theme. A theme that outfits her, partially or fully, with the essentials she’ll need this spring.
