Shoppers are becoming more resourceful in getting deals/bargain.

That’s just one of  findings posted in an article at The The post entitled New Deloitte Survey Shoppers are still Frugal addresses grocery shopping, but the techniques consumers use can also apply to retail/gift shopping (Kohl’s cash anyone?). A Glimpse at the 49 Tips

Actually, these 49 Tips provide the opportunity to save much more than $500.So, if you’re motivated, you might be golden until 2014!

From 30 Tips:

  • Review and lower your cell phone plan.  If you’re someone who not only doesn’t text and drive; but doesn’t text at all, why pay for it on your cell? The article also asks if you really need your land line if you almost exclusively use your cell.
  • Do you really watch those premium cable channels you’re paying for?
  • Instead of using a fee-ATM, buy something at a retailer and get cash back. Free. Gum is a good buy for cash back if you’re not already in to shop.
  • Stop making manicure appointments and DIY it. There are other DIY ideas listed, but I think you have to be REALLY motivated to sign on for those, like make your own soap, cleaning products, etc.
  • Starbucks. Just. Say. No.

From Saving Money:

  • Prepare meals at home. Brown bag at work instead of using your gas to go out and spend money. Besides, you can prepare better tasting and more nutritious meals.
  • Is your home costing your money? Call your utility company for info on a home energy audit.
  • Trade in your old electronics for cash.
  • You probably don’t need your hot water heater to deliver scalding water. Reduce the setting to 120 degrees F.

Check out both articles for specific details and to read all of the tips.

Happy saving and Happy Frugalista Shopping!
